Brian took 10 of us on a great walk at the start of the Chilterns. We visited Ivinghoe Beacon – and donned waterproofs for at least 5 minutes before the sun reasserted itself. In the distance the ‘ancient’ chalk lion could be seen carved into the hillside near to Whipsnade Zoo.

There were lots of stunning views were to be had along the way, including those from the top of the 33m high Bridgewater Monument ( built in 1832 we were informed).
Then after a brief stop for refreshments we headed back along the Ridgeway path and did a spot of sloe picking before wending our various ways home.
