Highlights from some of the people on our recent camping ‘expedition’ in South Devon:-
* My favourite things were the views across the Devon hills from the campsite down to the sea, the starry skies at night, kayaking in glorious sunshine on the River Dart, revisiting the Pigs Nose after a hot and hilly walk, collapsing in the sea to freshen up and walking the coast around Brixham.
- Great walk and views on our trek from Slapton to Mattiscombe Sands. Lots of seals at Pear Tree Point. Caught a Ballan Wrasse off the rocks and got battered by the waves. Great food in the lovely village pubs of Slapton. And then quad biking on the way home to round a fabulous time.
* tiny country lanes – with great big tractors. (I should have read the instructions for the easiest way to get to the campsite !). However, my escape on Saturday morning on the A road to Dartmouth wasn’t a great deal better – white lines – most of the way…
- A hot walk, and lager shandies in the Pig’s Nose. Views of the lighthouse … and more seals
- surviving the gale on our last night camping – thanks to the campervans for sheltering the tents. Avoiding the jellyfish at Slapton Sands. And not falling out of the kayak whilst looking at Dartmouth from a new perspective.
- Cheering on England – thanks to the hospitality of those in the chalet. Some of us even managed to keep awake long enough to see the game into extra time.
