Dennis reports on February club meet in the Brecons

I’ve done about 20 trips to this valley with another group (canal boats & cycling), always stayed higher up the valley in an old Monastery.  Usually 4 to 5 days trips over New Year and mid-summer, major pastime was drinking pubs and Monastery guest house.

My sole navigation contribution was knowing the track down to the Llanthony Priory (pub) bypassing endless “are we there yet, this track may work”.  Very wet and cloudy day.  First time in 20 years the Queens Head and was open.  Only open very odd hours.

Enjoyed Roger’s mud walk otherwise known as offa’s dyke.

The bunk house is ok.  Warm, clean, rather narrow hard bunks, very low head banging beams, very limited kitchen and dining.  Only room for one cook and one washer upper. Max 8 people.
