If there is no cricket in progress\, park in School Lane\, W3W  woods.upon.crank\, postcode RH5 5TR\, grid ref  TQ146399\, opposite the cricket pavilion or the school. Otherwise\, there are spaces opposite the Inn on the Green and some spaces in the close by the Cricketers Arms.  O S Explorer no 146. \nBring a picnic. After the walk we can repair to the Cricketers or the Inn on the Green\, which are close to our parking area. \nThe walk\, of about 8 miles\, is from Ockley via Forest Green and Birketts Farm to Leith Hill Wood and then to the top of Leith Hill returning to Ockley via Hartshurst Farm. Should the weather be unduly hot or wet\, the walk can easily be shortened to 7 miles\, avoiding the Leith Hill summit. SUMMARY:29 March 2026 - day walk near Witley
DESCRIPTION:Linda and Stuart will be taking us on another “Fancy Free” Walk.. Titled “Four Commons & a Mill”…. In fact\, its Five Commons. ( Rodborough\, Milford\, Thursley\, Ockley and Witley Commons) \nExplorer maps 145 (Guildford) 133 (Haslemere) \nDistance just under 8 miles of undulating\, easily negotiated\, forest and common land\, the majority of which is on sand\, so ideal given the weather conditions of the last couple of months. That said towards the end of the walk there are areas of mud requiring stout\, waterproof boots. \nIt is easy walking with stunning views\, a charming country village\, some local history and places of interest\, lakeside and dappled forest paths. The route is also ideal for dog walking. \nStarting point is from the Webb Road\, Witley (GU8 5QJ\, National Trust car park at 10.00 \nWhat 3 words: – hired\, pancakes\, improvise.
