SUMMARY:Day walk on 16 October: Chilterns
DESCRIPTION:Sandy will be leading this overdue return to a fine Chilterns walk. \nROUTE \nWe will roughly follow this 11 mile route:  https://www.walkingclub.org.uk/walk/saunderton-via-bledlow-circular/. A big possible shortcut cuts the walk to 6 miles but avoids a pub lunch option in Bledlow. \nSTART\n\n\nSaunderton station (HP14 4LJ\, grid ref SU 815 985. Note this is not very close to Saunderton village). \nStart time 10 am\n\n\n\n\nLUNCH\nPub lunch at the Lions in Bledlow if there is sufficient interest. Otherwise there are a couple of suitable picnic spots in Bledlow.\nThere is also a decent pub near Saunderton station at the end of the walk\, which may be useful if you have to wait for a train home (they are hourly).\n\nPlease use the comment box below to tell us if you are interested in this walk.\n

SUMMARY:Day walk on Friday 3 September - Horsley Diamond Jubilee Trail
DESCRIPTION:Stuart and Linda will be leading a 9 mile walk through the Surrey countryside (HORSLEY DIAMOND JUBILEE TRAIL) starting at East Horsley Station and taking in The Forest\, Effingham Common\, Great Ridings Wood\, Oldlands Wood\, Effingham Forest and Sheepleas. The walk is not strenuous but it is likely to  be muddy in a number of places and appropriate footwear is recommended. \nThe terrain is primarily ancient woodland\, forestry but with some farmland\, common land and wild flower meadows.\nPacked lunches will be required.\n\nWe will meet at the station car par park around 10.30 so as to set at 10.45.

SUMMARY:Day walk on Saturday 11 January – London loop
DESCRIPTION:Change of plan owing to rail disruption – this day walk will now be a section of the London Loop\, from Hatton Cross to West Drayton (7 miles) or Uxbridge (11 miles). Hatton Cross and Uxbridge are on the Piccadilly line\, which you can also get back to from West Drayton via Ealing. \nStart: 10 am at Hatton Cross underground station. \nLunch: picnic in Stockley Country Park\, or cafe in West Drayton if the weather is bad. Pub options there are not great but we can find a pub in Uxbridge for post-walk refreshments. \nThe reason for this is that the lines through Surbiton are closed on the weekend of 11/12 January (and the following weekend)\, and I want to be able to get to the start by public transport. Trains are running from Kingston\, Richmond\, Twickenham etc.

Depart 9.45 from Boxhill and Westhumble Station (links in with train from Clapham Junction or Wimbledon) and take in Polesdon Lacey\, beautiful Tanners Hatch YHA where we will eat our packed lunch and drink warming wine\, and Ranmore Common for some views over to the South Downs. DESCRIPTION:On Sunday 13 October Robert is leading a walk from Blackheath car park south of Chilworth at 09:30 (not the Blackheath on London!). SUMMARY:Day walk on 27 April
DESCRIPTION:Lesley will be leading this one – a circular 10 mile walk through wooded areas of South West Surrey easily reachable by train as well as by car. Taking in Hydon’s Ball and the quaint villages of Hascombe and Hambledon. There should be plenty of bluebells lining much of the route as well as spring lambs in the fields. Bring a packed lunch for a picnic in either the grounds of Hascombe church (very quaint inside) or on the village green. Meet at Witley Station (post code GU8 5TB). Parking is free on Saturdays. There is a train from Clapham Junction at 09.22am arriving at Witley at 10.10am for those wishing to use public transport so we are aiming for a 10.15am sharp start.

DESCRIPTION:Linda and Stuart’s walk on the 8th of September is a 10 miler starting at 10 AM at the pond in Shamley Green (GR 033437). It is next to the Red Lion pub and parking is around the pond area. The walk takes in parts of the Greensand Way and Downs Link. There is a pretty place for lunch in Hascombe at seating around the village pond and the White Horse (just a short way beyond) serves excellent food.\nLinda and Stuart did the walk recently and grade it as easy with no steep hills.

DESCRIPTION:Lesley is leading a walk on 7 April. Meet at the Reigate Heath parking area off the A25.  O S maps Explorer 146 or Landranger 187. Map ref is TQ 238503. Lesley says: the walk is about 10 miles and some of it could be quite muddy. The plan is to walk up to the North Downs and cross the motorway into Walton Heath and through to Walton on the Hill. We return via Banstead Heath to the delightful Sportsman pub at Mogador\, where we can get a pint\, but please bring sandwiches so that we are not there for too long. We then recross the motorway and follow the North Downs Way to Gatton and Nut Wood\, returning to Reigate Heath via the Greensand Way. There are excellent views across the Weald on this walk.

DESCRIPTION:Somewhere a bit different for this walk led by Sandy: a 12 mile (19 km for those metrically minded) circular walk from Oxted\, taking in the grounds of Chartwell House. Once we get out of Oxted\, nearly all the walk is through forest and parkland. Starting at 10 am blunt (if trains are running normally\, there will be one from Victoria/Clapham Junction arriving at 1001) from in front of Oxted station NOT the car park which it turns out is no longer free on Saturdays!

SUMMARY:Day walk at Box Hill\, 27 January
DESCRIPTION:The next day walk will be next Saturday 27 January meeting at 9.45am at the Rikers cafe car park just north of Burford Bridge. If you are travelling by public transport you can get the 465 bus from Kingston and Leatherhead\, or take the train to Box hill and Westhumble station which is a 15 minute walk from the start of the walk. \nThe walk will be approximately 9 miles long and includes Box Hill\, Norbury Park and Headley Health\, stopping for lunch at a local pub. There are many fine viewpoints on this circular walk and in several places you can see your earlier route from a new perspective.

DESCRIPTION:Brian will be leading the next day walk on Saturday 16th December starting at Elstead village green (Grid Ref 907437). \nIt’s 10 ½ miles going via Frensham Little Pond\, Rushmoor\, The Devil’s Jumps and Elstead Common. \nAs it’s approaching the shortest day\, can we plan to meet at 09:30 for a 09:45 start. \nThere is a pub at the end of the walk for a festive drink\, but only one posh hotel halfway round\, so please bring packed lunch.
