SUMMARY:September 16-20: Lakes – Rydal Hall bunkhouse
DESCRIPTION:We originally booked the Robertson Lamb hut in Langdale\, but it will not be available this year. However\, club member Shira has unearthed this little gem as an alternative: Rydal Hall Bunkhouse.  We have booked one room for Thursday night and two for Friday-Monday. As at 12 August we have exclusive use of the bunkhouse but this may change. \nWe hope to revisit Langdale next year.

SUMMARY:Day walk on Friday 3 September - Horsley Diamond Jubilee Trail
DESCRIPTION:Stuart and Linda will be leading a 9 mile walk through the Surrey countryside (HORSLEY DIAMOND JUBILEE TRAIL) starting at East Horsley Station and taking in The Forest\, Effingham Common\, Great Ridings Wood\, Oldlands Wood\, Effingham Forest and Sheepleas. The walk is not strenuous but it is likely to  be muddy in a number of places and appropriate footwear is recommended. \nThe terrain is primarily ancient woodland\, forestry but with some farmland\, common land and wild flower meadows.\nPacked lunches will be required.\n\nWe will meet at the station car par park around 10.30 so as to set at 10.45.

SUMMARY:Day walk on Saturday 11 January – London loop
DESCRIPTION:Change of plan owing to rail disruption – this day walk will now be a section of the London Loop\, from Hatton Cross to West Drayton (7 miles) or Uxbridge (11 miles). Hatton Cross and Uxbridge are on the Piccadilly line\, which you can also get back to from West Drayton via Ealing. \nStart: 10 am at Hatton Cross underground station. \nLunch: picnic in Stockley Country Park\, or cafe in West Drayton if the weather is bad. Pub options there are not great but we can find a pub in Uxbridge for post-walk refreshments. \nThe reason for this is that the lines through Surbiton are closed on the weekend of 11/12 January (and the following weekend)\, and I want to be able to get to the start by public transport. Trains are running from Kingston\, Richmond\, Twickenham etc.

DESCRIPTION:On Sunday 13 October Robert is leading a walk from Blackheath car park south of Chilworth at 09:30 (not the Blackheath on London!). It is a 10 1/2 mile walk crossing the Wey Valley to a couple of hillocks on the other side (and they really are only hillocks) and return via Chantry Woods.  A few inclines and several views but not a singe stile.

DESCRIPTION:Sheila will lead this one in the Upper Arun Valley\, on the borders of Surrey/W Sussex OS Exp 34. The walk will start in the village of Rudgwick (GR086335)   Starting time will be 10.15am. \nThis is a 8 mile walk but Sheila may add a couple of miles on  the day if people would like.

DESCRIPTION:Sandy’s turn to do this one. \nStarting from Gomshall station car park (grid ref TQ 089 478)\, which still has free parking\, at 10.10 am to allow people to arrive on the 1003 train. Route: via Hoe and Hurt Wood to Holmbury Hill\, Holmbury St Mary\, Leith Hill and back to Gomshall by Abinger Roughs. \nDistance: 14 miles\, or 22km for those more metrically minded.
