SUMMARY:Saturday 5 April 2025 - day walk in Surrey Hills
DESCRIPTION:Sandy will lead this walk in the Surrey hills (Gomshall/Abinger/Holmbury area). The walk will be about 10 miles with a possible short cut near the end. It’s a combination of two routes Sandy has led before\, so will be familiar to some\, but we haven’t been there for a few years. Meet at Gomshall railway station GU5 9NX at 10 am. Grid ref is TQ 089 478. The station car park is no longer free but are usually quite a few free parking spaces on the Station Approach road – you should be all right with a 10 am start. For anyone using public transport\, there is a train from Guildford (0937) arriving at Gomshall at 0952. \nTowards the end of the walk we will pass close  to the Abinger Hammer Tea Rooms and just before Gomshall station\, there are the Compasses Inn and Gomshall Mill\, both of which have pleasant beer gardens\, so there is plenty of choice of post-walk refreshments. \n\nSorry this is so soon after the previous day walk\, but with a meet the following weekend\, Easter and other commitments it is the only suitable date. \nMembers – If you’d like more information or to book on the walk please contact Meet Secretary \nPotential guests – If you are interested in joining this walk or want further information please email nkhcinfoATgmail.com (instead of ‘AT’ please type ‘@’)

SUMMARY:Saturday 17th February - Day walk near Shoreham
DESCRIPTION:South Downs starting at car just north of Shoreham grid ref TQ 197 097\, just off the A283. Parking is limited so best to arrive in good time\, and share transport but there should be  plan B if parking is an issue. Arrive 8.45-9am for a 9.15 start.\n\nWalk along the river Arun then inland along tracks ( there is a café near the lunch stop)\,  then cut north towards south downs way\, if we’re quick we could possibly grab a pint in the pub at the Devil’s Dyke\, then back along the south downs way to the car park. Circa 14-15miles. SUMMARY:Sunday 28 Jan 2024 - Day walk
DESCRIPTION:Please join Sandy for the next day walk  over Frensham Common and Kettlebury Hill (that’s the area with the Devil’s Jumps and Lion’s Mouth). It’s got coppiced woodland\, open pine forest and heath “which would not be out of place in the Scottish highlands” and a possible village pub stop. Some of the route is on familiar ground but with a new approach this time. As it’s largely on sandy ground the going shouldn’t be too squelchy at this time of year.\n \nLength – approx 9 miles  \nStart – NT car park at Frensham Little Pond\, 10.30 am \nRefreshments – none on route so bring a picnic\, but a short diversion will bring us to the Barley Mow in Tilford in the afternoon

DESCRIPTION:This booking is rolled over from a cancelled meet last January: a small club hut\, Fallcliffe\, www.ulgmc.org.uk/huts/fallcliffe which I gather is a nostalgic venue for some in the club. It’s a great location near Grindleford\, 1.5 miles south of Hathersage. Froggat\, Stanage\, Curbar\, and Stoney Middleton are all within easy reach.

DESCRIPTION:Meet from 9.50am for 10.10 start at the FISHPOOL CAR PARK on Chobham common to walk to Horsell common\, heather Farm and Stanner’s Hill.  The core walk is 7 miles but can be extended on to Chobham Common to up to 13 miles (or less…) as required.  There will be a chance afterwards for a short drive into Chobham where the dog-friendly Red Lion may be a suitable place to round things off. \nThe walk begins at the Fishpool car park on Chobham Common\, Surrey.The car park is just off The Gracious Pond Road.
