SUMMARY:Saturday 17th February - Day walk near Shoreham
DESCRIPTION:South Downs starting at car just north of Shoreham grid ref TQ 197 097\, just off the A283. Parking is limited so best to arrive in good time\, and share transport but there should be  plan B if parking is an issue. Arrive 8.45-9am for a 9.15 start.\n\nWalk along the river Arun then inland along tracks ( there is a café near the lunch stop)\,  then cut north towards south downs way\, if we’re quick we could possibly grab a pint in the pub at the Devil’s Dyke\, then back along the south downs way to the car park. Circa 14-15miles. DESCRIPTION:Please join Sandy for the next day walk  over Frensham Common and Kettlebury Hill (that’s the area with the Devil’s Jumps and Lion’s Mouth). It’s got coppiced woodland\, open pine forest and heath “which would not be out of place in the Scottish highlands” and a possible village pub stop. Some of the route is on familiar ground but with a new approach this time. As it’s largely on sandy ground the going shouldn’t be too squelchy at this time of year.\n \nLength – approx 9 miles  \nStart – NT car park at Frensham Little Pond\, 10.30 am \nRefreshments – none on route so bring a picnic\, but a short diversion will bring us to the Barley Mow in Tilford in the afternoon

DESCRIPTION:For January we have booked a cosy hut in the Peak District. It is a small club hut\, Fallcliffe\, www.ulgmc.org.uk/huts/fallcliffe which I gather is a nostalgic venue for some in the club. It’s a great location near Grindleford\, 1.5 miles south of Hathersage. Froggat\, Stanage\, Curbar\, and Stoney Middleton are all within easy reach.

SUMMARY:Day walk on 2 January - Greensand Way and Leith Hill
DESCRIPTION:An 8-10 mile post-Christmas walk from Holmbury St Mary. Charmian is leading a walk along the Greensand Way to Leith Hill and then through woodland to Friday Street and back to the start point. The longer 10 mile option adds in Holmbury Hill. Weather permitting\, the views from both Holmbury and Leith Hill will be spectacular. \nPlease bring a picnic lunch and head torches (just in case)! After the walk there is a choice of 2 pubs in Holmbury St Mary for a reviving drink.
