Goodwood in April

Bill provided us with April’s day walk, starting along the South Downs Way north of Goodwood.  We tracked through Charlton forest before looping around Goodwood Racecourse.  An ascent of the Trundle followed, then lunch on the hill fort, looking out to sea, and listening to the strains of vintage motor racing wafting up from Goodwood motor circuit far below.

The afternoon part took us round West Dean estate and woods full of spring flowers before again joining the South Downs Way.

On returning to the car park, Shira produced, as if by magic, an entire cream tea for the whole group!  Scones had been baked that morning before leaving, and were accompanied by jam and a whole blender full of cream…

I think that one’s going to be hard to beat for a while.
