Dorset blazer!

A long weekend camping in Dorset was the club’s first official overnight trip since the pandemic started. Bernadette reports.

A scorching hot weekend began on Thursday, with Tony and Brian setting up camp at Acton Field near Worth Matravers, with views over a glittering blue sea.

Friday saw Brian, Tony and Roger mountain biking over the spectacular Ballard Down to the cliff above Old Harry Rocks and down to Studland Bay for a refreshing swim. Friday arrivals had time to explore Dancing Ledge and swim off the rocks, admiring the ammonites on the wave cut platform. On Saturday, one group went walking and swimming on the Jurassic coast, and another did a mountain bike loop incorporating Kimmeridge and Corfe Castle with some serious climbs and exhilarating descents. A sunny, warm evening BBQ rounded off the day.

More walks, biking and swimming to cool off on Sunday, diverting to see the Dinosaur footprints in Acton quarry before some of the group headed home.
