At our January meet in North Wales, and after a long wait, NKHC members were treated to a full on winter weekend in the historic Helyg Hut in the Ogwen valley with its Everest connections and memorabilia.
Early birds were able to make the most of the Thursday drive up having a snowy lunchtime on the Wrekin in Shropshire.
Friday’s red sunrise defied the shepherd’s warning and turned into a spectacular day on Y Garn via Devil’s Kitchen. Saturday was a very (deep) snowy day over towards the Carnedds while Sunday was a bit more cloudy with a thaw, but the ascent of Moel Siabod was still achieved through gritted teeth against an icy wind.
