16-17 March 2018: Snow in Dorset in March

A strange weekend as regards the weather – Sheila says that on Saturday 8 participants took a walk from Swanage over to Studland Bay (passing Harry’s Rocks on the way and seeing the Isle of Wight in the distance). The weather was bitterly cold and a raw NE wind faced them all the way there. Luckily they found a lovely pub just outside Studland just as the snow started……….so waited for it to stop (approx 1.5hrs) then either found a bus back to Swanage or took a walk back. That evening they visited a couple of pubs but the next day due to weather and road conditions (it had been snowing overnight), all made for home. Not what we expect at Swanage in March. The site administrator was in Yorkshire and had a similar experience. Fingers crossed for good weather in April!
