Peak performance in the Lakes (April weekend)

Our April meet was to one of the club’s old favourites, the Robertson Lamb Hut in Great Langdale. There was plenty of chance to sit out and soak up the view and we even saw a stoat running round the grounds. The first couple of days were hot and sunny and there were several walks going on in Langdale and further afield. Sunday was colder and the group that battled the wind on the ridge from Clough Head over the Dodds had plenty of chance to practice using a compass in the fog and drizzle. The skies finally cleared to give fantastic views of Helvellyn and beyond.

The final day was momentous for Tony who completed his round of Wainwright’s on the mighty Arthur’s Pike above Ullswater and time for some well earned chocolate cake.

A relaxing and enjoyable weekend and we managed to fit in a couple of visits to the Old Dungeon Ghyll.
